Punjab Wildlife & Parks Department
The Administrative Department can officially declare a Wildlife Reserve via a Gazette notification, designating either Government-owned land as a public wildlife reserve or, through a management agreement, private land as a private wildlife reserve. Private reserve owners may issue hunting permits for a set fee and method.
The primary goals of establishing such reserves are to responsibly manage areas for sustainable wildlife utilization and regulate the harvesting of excess wildlife. While hunting is generally prohibited in public reserves, the Administrative Department may grant special permits stipulating the maximum animals allowed for hunting and the permit’s duration.
